Peace Walk 2024 - Wednesday, June 5

Noon: Meet at Fort Lee Senior Center, 319 Main Street, Fort Lee, NJ (no parking at the Ft. Lee Senior Center)

Transportation to the Senior Center
By car: Free parking is available at the Puffin Cultural Forum. 20 Puffin Way, Teaneck. Arrive by 11:15 to get a ride from the Puffin Cultural Forum to the Fort Lee Senior Center.
By bus: From George Washington Bridge Station, New York City, NJ Transit #182 bus to Ft. Lee Senior Center leaves at 11:25 am

12:30 pm: Stepping off. Walk 1.4 miles to Overpeck Park Driveway  (1 hour)

1 pm: Short stop on at the site of the Leonia Ceasefire Vigil for Peace and Justice (every Sunday since 2001). Broad Avenue and Ft. Lee Road in Leonia. Speaker: Lela Charney

1:30 pm: Drive from Overpeck Park Driveway (north) to Puffin Cultural Forum, 20 Puffin Way. Teaneck, NJ (Transportation in the PeaceWalk van)

1:40 pm: Gather at Puffin Cultural Forum, Peace Pole and at statue of Pete Seeger
Puffin Cultural Forum will provide lunch, water, chairs, and bathrooms. They have hosted many Veterans Art and Poetry events over the years. We are so thankful to the Puffin Cultural Forum for supporting this important effort.

2:30 pm: Stepping off from the Puffin Cultural Forum to National Guard Armory, 1799 Teaneck Road, corner of Liberty Road. 2.9 miles.
For anyone who would like to walk only part of the route on Wednesday, we encourage you to do this part of the walk because it is mostly on flat land and is very visible to the public.

3:45 pm: Arrive at National Guard Armory, 1799 Teaneck Road, corner of Liberty Road. Teaneck

4-5:15 pm: Teaneck Peace and Justice Vigil. (981st consecutive vigil at that location)

Transportation: NJ Transit buses stop at the National Guard Armory. Plenty of street parking and parking at Foster Village Plaza across the street)

The PeaceWalk/Teaneck Peace and Justice Vigil and rally will be dedicated to the Palestinian poet and educator, Refaat Alareer, his daughter, son-in-law, and two month old granddaughter and the more than 36,000 other people killed in Gaza. We will read Refaat Alareer’s final poem, If I Should Die
