Annual Potluck Dinner and Meeting - Stephen Kinzer Peace or Primacy: America's Choice for the 21st Century
Please join us at Watertown Citizens’ Annual Meeting and Potluck Dinner on Sunday, June 2 at the First Parish of Watertown Unitarian Universalists to celebrate our accomplishments and recommit to meet the challenges ahead. On our 45th anniversary we continue to build community, contribute to progressive achievements, and provide a space for our neighbors, new and old, to learn, grow, and make a difference.
We are able to do this because of the wonderful volunteers who make up our six working groups – Watertown Faces Climate Change, Refugee Support Group, Friends of Bees and Life Friendly Garden Tour, Pigsgusset Initiative, Peace and Common Security and Race Reels. Their efforts along with our collaboration with other organizations and our support for events like the Mothers Day Walk for Peace, Juneteenth, and Race Reels make Watertown Citizens an effective and influential voice for peace, justice and the environment. You can learn more about the Working Groups and our collaborations by visiting our website.
“The best organization outside of Boston”. That’s how Stephen Kinzer, the internationally known author and journalist and regular contributor to the Boston Globe, recently described Watertown Citizens. We are very excited that Mr. Kinzer will be our keynote speaker. He is an award winning foreign correspondent who has covered over 50 countries on five continents and the Washington Post placed him “among the best in popular foreign policy storytelling”. The title of Mr. Kinzer’s address is “Peace or Primacy: America’s Choice for the 21 Century”. Mr. Kinzer is Senior Fellow in International and Public Affairs at Watson Institute at Brown University. Visit https://home.watson.brown.edu/people/faculty/senior-fellows/stephen-kinzer to learn more about him and his many books and publications,
Finally, remember this is a Potluck Dinner! So please bring an entrée, side dish, or dessert. We will provide the beverages. Thank you in advance for your financial support. We look forward to seeing you on June 2!
