Webinar Screening Description: Anti-Palestinian racism is a form of cultural racism that affects both Palestinians and non-Palestinians.
A recently released landmark study showed that almost 90% of respondents had experienced and/or witnessed anti-Palestinian racism and over 70% reported mental and physical health effects from this. The AAP recently cited the rise in anti-Palestinian racism as a concern along with the rise of antisemitism and Islamophobia (anti-Muslim hate). This webinar will educate about anti-Palestinian racism, how it affects the general American population and ways to advocate against this form of racism.
Objectives:
Define racism’s levels and forms
Explain the characteristics of anti-Palestinian racism and provide examples
Identify ways in which media outlets perpetuate anti-Palestinian racism
Explain the ways racism impacts health of Americans
Describe ways to support Palestinians and their allies including: students, patients, families and colleagues who have been affected by this form of racism.
