On May 8th, Metropolitan Police Department and George Washington Police Department raided the Gaza Solidarity Encampment at Shohada’ Square, George Washington University. Hundreds of police officers surrounded the students at 4am, destroyed the encampment, while brutalizing, macing, and arresting community members who showed up to support the students.
We call on our community to attend the arraignment hearings, and we demand that the charges of all protesters be dropped.
Please attend the virtual court hearings and change your name to “Support for Palestine Protestors.” Please be aware that the moderators will kick out observers who have camera’s and mic’s turned on, or who use the chat to send messages.
If you have been attending and want to join the court watch to support community members going through the court system, we highly recommend attending @courtwatchdc’s court watch trainings. Court watching provides the space and training for the community to observe local court proceedings in the District of Columbia and document our city’s policies in action and to hold judicial actors accountable for injustice in the court system.
