Myths and Facts:
How to Determine the Truth about Israel, Hamas, and Gaza?
The Prevention of Genocide and Faithful Christian Responses

As of the middle of March 2024, the death toll in Gaza is at more than 30,000 people, with more than 70,000 injuries. In Israel, it is believed 100 or more hostages may still be alive and captive in Gaza, and more than 1,700 people have been killed and more than 5,400 people injured. Different ideological communities paint very divergent pictures of causes and responsibility for who should be held accountable and where to go from here in efforts toward peace. How might Christians discern news sources and respond faithfully? This briefing and discussion is led by two Christians who wrote dissertations focused on the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, occupation, and the current realities about the role the U.S. plays in the perpetuation of violence and war in the Middle East.

Speakers: Rev. Dr. Mae Elise Cannon is the executive director of Churches for Middle East Peace and an ordained pastor in the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC).

Dr. Benjamin Norquist is the Ambassador Warren Clark Fellow at Churches for Middle East Peace.
