THE LABOR MOVEMENT AND PALESTINE
In the lead up to May Day, join us next Wednesday, April 24 at 6PM in the People’s Forum for a panel discussion on the connections between the labor movement and Palestine.
Our guests include Mahmoud Ziadeh, Former General Secretary of the Palestinian General Federation of Independent Trade Unions; Grant Miner, Vice President of the Student Workers of Columbia - UAW 2710; Professor Jeff Schurhke, a labor historian and professor at SUNY Empire State College; and Bhairavi Desai, the executive director of the New York Taxi Workers Alliance.
We will talk about the history of labor Zionism and its connection to settler violence in Palestine, as well as the internationalist currents that have historically pulsed through the labor movement in the U.S. and that we are currently witnessing in workplaces and campuses all over the country, drawing workers to the Palestinian struggle for liberation.
This conversation will be followed by a Q&A with the speakers. We hope to see you there!
