By SLEEC
Workshop and discussion on taking more action, building campaigns and sustaining our fight against the violence and genocide in Palestine.
Donation-based (free if you can’t afford to pay) - All funds raised go to buying e-sims for people in Palestine/Gaza
Workshop content: Speaker and activist Sophie Yates Lu will share an intro to effective campaign strategy, tactics, tools and ideas for action. She will run through a few examples of recent and historic Palestinian-justice campaigns, and help participants to identify where their energy and skills are best placed. You will leave with an understanding of how to campaign and ideas of where to get started!
Open discussion facilitated by co-founders of SLEEC, Meggan and Bryony to collectively share ideas, successful actions and activisim, barriers to action and sustaining the fight.
They will look at self-work and commitments to action through written and reflection work:
Aligning our actions with our values
Looking at how stress/trauma/mental health might make us disconnect with our values and integrity
Apathy and acknowledging what privileges we have to be able to turn off. Exploring ways on how to fight this.
Exploring powerlessness and how to shift this into action and mobilising.
Building commitments
Facilitators: Sophie Yates Lu (she/they) is a survivor activist who has been working to support grassroots campaigners across the UK to campaign on a range of issues, from domestic violence to climate justice. Her passion is helping to equip those with lived experience with the tools to create the change they need to see in the world. Sophie currently organises with Decolonising Economics, as well as running storytelling trainings for survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
Meggan Baker and Bryony Ball (she/her, she/her) are the co-founders of SLEEC. SLEEC is a survivor led organisation that changes conversations, supports survivors and dismantles the roots of male violence. They fight for collective liberation, solidarity across struggles and for those with lived-experience of violence, trauma, harm and oppression to inform and influence all work on misogyny and rape culture, across the UK.
Please note: This is not a space to debate or dispute what is going on in Palestine. This is a space to collectively take action, and share ideas on how to fight the violence and genocide. If you want to debate - don't come.
