Yemen and the Struggle for Palestine with Fadi Kafeety
Moderated by Daniel Denvir
In recent months, Yemen has made global headlines for supporting Palestine amidst the ongoing genocidal war in Gaza. As the only country in the Arab world actively supporting the Palestinian struggle through its blockade in the Red Sea, this talk historicizes the deep roots of solidarity in Yemen for Palestine, arguing that Yemen’s ongoing support for Palestinian liberation is part of a longstanding tradition of internationalism that emerged from the revolutionary era of the 1960s.
Fadi Kafeety is a PhD candidate in History at the University of Houston. His research focuses on anti-colonial movements in the Arab world and is completing his dissertation on the Yemeni revolutions of the 1960s.
