4/16 (Livestream) 12:00 PM - Germany Shuts Down the Palestine Conference in Berlin (DiEM25)

Tuesday, April 16, 12:00 PM EDT - livestream at 6pm CET (5pm GMT, noon EST).

Sponsored by DiEM25

Together we can and we must prevent a new dark chapter in Germany and Europe!

Since last weekend we know that we are not just facing an ordinary election campaign, but an epic fight against injustice and oppression 2.0 in Germany.

On Friday, April 12th, the Palestine congress in Berlin was stopped without any legal basis. The police informed the organisers and us that the Ministry of the Interior has imposed a ban on political activity in Germany against the participants author Salman Abu Sittah, Dr. Ghassan Abu Sittah and DiEM25 co-founder Yanis Varoufakis (also chairman of MERA25 Greece). Under this ban, they are not allowed to enter the country or even appear via video at conferences or demonstrations.

The occasion? A conference to discuss the suffering of Palestinians. The specific reason? As the police themselves admitted, there were no prohibited statements at this conference. You can review Yanis' speech here. It's simply a farce that shows the means used to silence all those who speak out against the oppression of the Palestinians by Israel and criticize the bloody war of revenge that has been going on for months.

We will of course continue and we will not accept under any circumstances that people who speak uncomfortable truths are punished in any way for doing so. Without freedom of speech, there is no democracy, no freedom and no peace. We have to prepare for a tough election campaign with quasi legal adversities and we ask you to stand with us! Please spread the word and consider making a donation to our German party for the battle ahead. Every single euro will help us to courageously continue on our path and spread our message for freedom, solidarity and peace!

On Tuesday, we will discuss the situation in our regular livestream at 6pm CET (5pm GMT, noon EST).
