BELFAST - Tuesday, March 5, 7 pm (City Council Meeting) - comments need to be sent prior to the meeting

The city council heard supporters of a ceasefire resolution speak at the council's most recent meeting.  The resolution will be discussed and voted on at the upcoming session. 

Per organizers, the best way for supporters of a ceasefire resolution, from around Maine, to help is to send an email asap to the city council via: public@cityofbelfast.org

A Few Talking Points

- An immediate ceasefire is critical to save lives and to allow humanitarian aid to flow into Gaza;

- The International Court of Justice on 1/26/2024 ordered Israel to reduce violence against civilians (that may quality as genocide);

- An immediate ceasefire, and release of all hostages, is crucial for negotiations towards a lasting peace;

- Public opinion in Maine and nationwide is solidly in favor of a ceasefire;

- Your city, by voicing its support for a ceasefire, will join other cities in Maine and across the country -- 70 cities and counting in the US -- who have called for a ceasefire and peace.
