Prayers and Plants of Palestine: art, medicine and resistance (FUNDRAISER)
Join us for an evening with plants that grow in Palestine: their medicinal properties and representation through Palestinian Liberation Art

Celebration of artwork, music, literature and traditional crafts is one of the strongest forms of resistance in the face of culture erasure.
We will explore the work of key artists involved in the Palestinian Liberation Art movement, who have dedicated their practice to the preservation of Palestinian heritage, focusing on the representation of native plants in the Levantine landscape.
We will look at their influences, styles, techniques and especially the symbolic nature of subject matter chosen by these artists.
There will be some light drawing tutorials from primary and secondary reference with the option to paint and draw throughout our discussion.
Reference images will be sent ahead of the event.
You are invited to prepare sage or cardamon with black tea for the event as we will do some tea tasting followed by learning about some of the key medicinal properties of wild Palestinian plants.

All proceeds will go to support the family of a Palestinian living in Belfast.
"Every single penny will go towards getting my family out of Gaza via the Rafah border, then onto Egypt and Turkey for immediate medical care. The money will be used to help nine members of my family exit Gaza, including my parents, my siblings, my 10 month old nephew and my brother in law.
