Tuesday, March 12, 1:00 PM EDT
The second session in this new series of webinars will be looking at the impact of Israel’s genocidal assault on children and educators in Palestine.
We will hear from Palestinian trade unionists and educators and special guests, who will talk about the situation on the ground, including the ongoing ‘educide’ taking place in Gaza, and how we can extend our solidarity work with Palestine in the UK.
The mass onslaught on the Palestine people in recent months is highlighting the need for more work in solidarity with teachers and lecturers, and also with children and young people who have been particularly hugely affected by the attacks in Gaza, with an unprecedented high level of casualties. We will discuss the ongoing campaigns, such as No Way To Treat a Child (NWTTAC), aiming to end the ongoing and systematic targeting of Palestinian children by the Israeli army.
Speakers: Iman Al-Shayeb, Member of the General Secretariat, General Union of Palestinian Teachers (GUPT) / Samia Al-Botmeh, Assistant professor in economics, at Birzeit University / Emma Rose, President NEU / Justine Mercer, President UCU / Louise Regan, Chair Palestine Solidarity Campaign & NEU EC Chair: Neha Shah, Vice Chair Palestine Solidarity Campaign
