U.S. Military Assistance & U.S. Foreign Policy Webinar - World Affairs Council
Wednesday, February 21, 2024
7:00 PM 8:15 PM
On October 17, Josh Paul resigned his position overseeing arms transfers and military assistance to foreign countries on behalf of the U.S. government, in disagreement over U.S. support for Israel. He saw his role as a vital way of advancing U.S. foreign policy priorities globally, but also as a means of enhancing security and even mitigating civilian harm. While the role was not without its moral dilemmas and complexities, but he believed and continues to believe the U.S. is a positive force in the world and that in most cases the costs of U.S. military assistance are outweighed by the benefits. He will discuss his role, as well as his experiences working in the region with World Affairs Council of Maine Executive Director Allison Hodgkins. Join us February 21, 2024 from 7:00-8:00 PM on Zoom. Mr. Paul will take audience questions after moderated remarks.
Registration for World Affairs Council Members is covered by annual membership dues, and at no cost for Maine Students. A $5 donation is requested from the general public.
