PLEASE SERIOUSLY CONSIDER SHOWING UP. The genocide rages on. This is one of the many things we can do to resist.
The purpose of our presence:
To educate the constituents in the audience about the genocide and remind them that it still rages on with our tax dollars.
To lay bare his support for military solutions to conflicts
To elevate the truth that he is not listening to what his constituents want him to do to stop Israel's war on Gaza and Lebanon and the West Bank and.....
SOME SUGGESTIONS:
Wear either a keffiyeh and/or all black so we can identify ourselves.
Space ourselves in the auditorium to make it look like there is support everywhere.
Start chatting up the folks sitting near you about the war on Gaza (and Lebanon) so when one of us gets a question there is a lot of clapping from the audience.Sit as close to one of the mics (which will probably be at the front in the 2 aisles) as possible if you plan on asking a question.
If you get a question, arrange beforehand for someone to videotape your question and his answer. It's most important to video Jake's response.
Speak slowly and wait for applause during the question.
Send the tape to me and it will be posted on Boston orgs' social media (with permission from the person asking the question).
Placards are most likely not allowed inside the auditorium.
Please do not engage with agitators. It rarely, if ever, goes well.
SOME IDEAS FOR QUESTIONS:
Hello. I am _______, live in _________. (I always add that I am a Jewish constituent of his from Newton). It is clear that you value health. We need to look no further than your immediate family's careers in the medical field. I just came across this Harvard study which concludes that of the 36 hospitals in the Gaza Strip, 83% of them had at least 1 2000 pound bomb dropped close enough to cause severe injury and damage building infrastructure, and 25% of them experienced bombs dropped close enough to kill patients and medical workers.. The shock wave set off by the bomb can be expected to cause severe injury, “including rupturing lungs, bursting sinuses, and tearing off limbs.” According to the article, all of these “bunker buster” bombs are made by General Dynamics whose corporate office is in Dedham. These are offensive weapons that we are paying for with over $1 billion of our Massachusetts' taxes. We need that $1 billion in our Massachusetts' communities. What will you do to stop Israel's ongoing slaughter of innocent civilians in Gaza and now in Lebanon? *see article below
Hello I am _____and live in ________. At this very moment, over 44,000 Gazans have been slaughtered by the Israeli military. 70% are women and children. A poll taken at the end of April found that seven in 10 likely voters — including majorities of Democrats (83%), Independents (65%), and Republicans (56%) — support the U.S. calling for a permanent ceasefire and a de-escalation of violence in Gaza. This represents a 3-point increase in support for the U.S. calling for a permanent ceasefire since Data for Progress last polled this question in February, and a 9-point increase in support from November. A majority of Democrats (56%) and a slight plurality of Independents (36%) say they believe Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. Why have you not publicly called for a ceasefire? You appear to be very out of touch with your democratic constituents.
