What's Next For Palestine? Building an Anti-Apartheid Movement
Hosted by AFSC US-Palestine Activism
Join AFSC for this incredible event with guest speakers Huwaida Arraf and Rabbi Alissa Wise with pre-recorded remarks from Rep. Cori Bush. This event will be in Philadelphia on Friday, December 6th to discuss what we can do in the U.S. to continue building the anti-apartheid movement for Palestinian liberation.
Huwaida Arraf is a Palestinian-American attorney and human rights activist who co-founded the International Solidarity Movement and has been involved in various other initiatives for Palestinian rights over the past two decades. She has played key roles in legal advocacy, including by organizing delegations to Gaza and leading sea voyages to confront the Israeli blockade. Currently based in Michigan, she practices civil rights law and organizes with groups advocating for Palestinian rights and social justice.
Rabbi Alissa Wise is a community organizer, educator, organizational consultant, and ritual leader with over two decades of movement-building experience. She is the Lead Organizer of Rabbis for Ceasefire which she founded in October 2023. She is co-author of Solidarity is the Political Version of Love: Lessons from Jewish Anti-Zionist Organizing.
Representative Cori Bush is a nurse and community activist from St. Louis, Missouri, who gained prominence for her role in the Ferguson protests against police brutality in 2014. Since her election to Congress, she has championed Palestinian rights and other progressive legislation, including by sponsoring H.Res.786, the first cease-fire resolution and opposing all U.S. military aid to Israel. Drawing from her personal experiences and hardships, Bush advocates for issues related to labor, housing, and social justice, aiming to uplift her constituents and communities.
Masks are not required but highly recommended. If you are feeling sick, please stay home for the safety of the other individuals in attendance of the event.
