Prep for Difficult Thanksgiving Conversations
by T’ruah
As Thanksgiving approaches, many of us are looking forward to gathering with loved ones to celebrate (and eat)! However, many of us are also anticipating conflict about American and Israeli politics. Maybe you're heading home to an environment where you know you'll be the only one with progressive views. Or maybe there's just one relative who loves to argue, and you’re not sure how you’re going to handle being in close proximity to them.
To help you navigate these potentially contentious discussions with deftness and confidence, we invite you to join us virtually on Thursday, November 21st at 2:00 PM (ET).
In this hour-long session, we will guide you through effective communication strategies, active listening techniques, and other tools to foster understanding in heated discussions. Whether you’re anticipating strident guests, vigorous debates, or just seeking to create a more inclusive atmosphere, this session is designed to equip you with the skills you need.
We'll be joined by Interfaith America. They will share with us tools used in their programs, which teaches students and campus professionals how to truly listen, understand, be heard, and seek common ground to positively impact their communities without comprising deeply held values.
What to expect:
Insightful tips on handling sensitive topics with empathy
Scenarios to game plan for and practice your skills
A space to share concerns and questions
Resources for after the session
Thanksgiving is a time for connection, and we believe that with the right tools, we can transform challenging conversations into opportunities for growth and understanding.
RSVP: We look forward to seeing you on November 21!
