This teach-in will focus on mapping academic repression, scholasticide and resistance

In-person attendance is at the Cantor Film Center (36 E. 8th St.), Rm. 101 and is open to current NYU students, faculty, and staff only. IDs will be checked at the venue. Livestream is open to all; a link will be emailed to registered participants on the day of the event.
This teach-in will map academic repression, scholasticide and resistance across and between US universities and Israel/Palestine. Panelists will explore how the on-going repression of pro-Palestinian speech and activism on US college campuses have affected students and staff, the network of institutions within and outside of the US shaping US campus policy towards pro-Palestinian speech and activism, the state of US universities and their global reach in the region, all situated within the on-going scholasticide of the entire educational infrastructure of Gaza, and the killings of many of its educators. Panelists will also discuss the unique role of US universities in movement buildling.
Featuring: Kayum Ahmed, Visiting Assistant Professor at Birzeit University in Palestine; Meira Gold, Independent Scholar and Activist; Ellis Garey, Postdoctoral Fellow, Brown University; Hesen Jabr, RNC-OB, Andrew Ross, Professor, Social and Cultural Analysis, NYU and National Steering Committee, Faculty for Justice in Palestine; Toufic Haddad, Palestinian-American academic and author.
