10/5 (in person, Nahant MA) 10am - Paddle Out for Palestine (Northshore for Palestine and partners)

Paddle Out for Palestine

πŸ—“οΈ Oct. 5, πŸ•™ 10 AM πŸ“ Nahant Beach, 1 Nahant Rd, Nahant, MA

Ocean-lovers and surfers in New England have a special relationship with the water that Palestinians are denied.

In Gaza even before last October, Israeli gunboats have regularly shot at Palestinian fisherfolk and surfers just trying to make a living or have access to the sea. Today amid genocide, people risk drowning to reach aid drops and have been pushed to the edge of the shore to avoid Israeli bombs.

In the West Bank, the Israeli system of checkpoints and annexation walls deny Palestinians access to the waves. The drive from Ramallah in the West Bank to Tel Aviv on the coast is only about as long as the drive from Boston to Gloucester, but with a West Bank ID, many Palestinians have never been able to see their Indigenous waters.

Surfers and ocean-lovers are coming together to organize our community to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people, donate to relief, and support local campaigns to end the genocide and occupation of Palestine.

*What is a paddle-out?*
This traditional Hawaiian tribute honors someone who died. Surfers paddle out to sea, form a circle, and share.

*Why paddle-out for Palestine?*
To honor the 187,000+ dead in Gaza, a coastal territory, and connect surfers and ocean-lovers together committed to Palestine’s liberation.
