Urgent Oct. 25 Vigil for Peace in Gaza and the Middle East Outside the White House-- Ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon Now! Stop U.S./Israel Attack of Iran!
When: Friday, Oct. 25, 2024 from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 PM
Where: Due to construction of new inaugural reviewing stands, Pennsylvania Ave., from in front of the White House down to the Press Gate area, is now closed until the inauguration. Part of Lafayette Square is also closed. You can still walk through the central part of Lafayette Square. We will meet for the peace vigil/prayer service on Pennsylvania Ave., just past the Press Gate, near the Executive Office Building entrance. If you are facing the White House from Lafayette Square, walk west through the park and then take a left at the end of the Square onto Pennsylvania Ave., and you will see an opening on the street, which is where we will meet. This is before the Secret Service checkpoint on 17th St. and Pennsylvania Ave.
What: The Dorothy Day Catholic Worker, along with members of Christians 4 Ceasefire, will hold a vigil for peace in Gaza and the Middle East and for an end to U.S. complicity in Israel's escalating genocidal war. The vigil will include several speakers and a prayer service of lament for what the International Court of Justice has ruled as plausible genocide in Gaza (see: https://www.icj-cij.org/node/203454 ).
We will be calling for:
Immediate ceasefire and an end to the Israeli siege and bombing in Gaza and Lebanon!
Israel and U.S. not to attack Iran!
U.S. Arms Embargo for Israel!
An end to settler violence and Israeli attacks in the West Bank and confiscation of Palestinian homes and land!
Release of all hostages and prisoners!
Unimpeded delivery of urgent humanitarian aid to Gaza and restoration of U.S. aid to UNRWA!
An end to apartheid and occupation and self-determination for Palestinian people!
Just peace for Palestine and Israel!
