10/19 (Zoom) 5pm - Poetry of the Camps: Rohingya Refugee Camp (Palestine @ MIT & partners)

Saturday, October 12, 5:00 PM EDT - Zoom

Poetry of the Camps - Rohingya Refugee Camp

Welcome to our global poetry movement called "Poetry of the Camps"!

Poetry of the Camps is a poetry workshop series offered through She Is Night, a creative arts collective curated for girls/women of color to reimagine a world beyond colorism by centering female protagonists. This poetry workshop is designed primarily for students of color on U.S. college campuses and students in the Palestinian and Rohingya refugee contexts. To stay true to our mission, we will center the voices of poets who are women of color. We will learn about colorism from the lenses of public health, colonialism/settler-colonialism, and the arts and write poetry together in community.

Session Dates:

Session 1: Poetry of the Camps - Saturday, September 28, 2024

Session 2: What is Colorism? - Saturday, October 5, 2024

Session 3: Homeland - Saturday, October 12, 2024

Session 4: Love Letters to Palestine - Saturday, October 19, 2024

Session 5: Huriye - Freedom - Saturday, October 26, 2024
