CHAT & CHEW: Threading Solidarity | anti-colonial struggle for P@lestine
Join us for an online gathering on Jan 30th for Threading Solidarity: anti-colonial struggle for P@lestinian Liberation & LandBack
We want to invite you into an initiative that started up in Calgary in June 2020. A number of us see the importance of keeping equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA) concerns front and centre as we go through so much change everywhere including the arts sector.
Gatherings will be facilitated by the Cultural Instigators (CI)*. We will gather to collectively discuss topics of EDIA through an anti-racist lens to get grassroots ideas and actions going.
“In a culture so besotted with personal ease, it is a profound act not to turn away. To commit. To speak up. To protest. To teach. To gather in community and action… Solidarity is how we reaffirm existence.” - Hala Alyan, writer and clinical psychologist
Nearly two million people in Gaza are still being starved, displaced, violently bombed, brutalized, mutilated and massacred by a US-backed settler colonial ethnostate.
As we bear witness to a 100-year genocide escalate on our digital screens, here is an invitation to open ourselves up to be in community and find ways to collectively take action.
You'll hear from our special guest Lara Elborno, a Palestinian-American international lawyer, human rights activist, and speaker, and Palestinian-American poet and organizer, Tariq Luthun.
Our aim for this discussion is to hold space for the unconscionable violence happening in P@lestine, to increase our collective understanding of Palestinian liberation as an anti-colonial struggle, and to discuss its interconnectedness with the liberation of others.
There will be an opportunity to share resources, discuss allyship, and imagine actions to take. We will be guided with a prayer, led by Elder Marina Crane.
Please register to receive the Zoom link. Due to security we will be sending the link 30 minutes before the event. ASL will be provided. CHAT & CHEW: Threading Solidarity | anti-colonial struggle for P@lestine Tickets, Tue, 30 Jan 2024 at 6:00 PM | Eventbrite
