Palestine Week 2024 | Gaza Monologues: Voices of Young Palestinians

The Gaza Mono-Logues: A performance and introduction to the work of Anera and Ashtar Theatre

Join us online or in person on January 24, 2024 for a powerful evening of theater and solidarity. After a global call in November 2023 by Ramallah-based Ashtar Theatre, individuals and theaters worldwide rallied to offer performances of The Gaza Mono-Logues, Ashtar’s renowned 2010 play. This inspiring work comprises monologues written by 33 teenagers from Gaza, many of whom were new to theater before training with Ashtar’s team. You can learn more about these young people in the virtual program provided after you register below.

To see the program in person, come to Busboys and Poets 14th and V Street NW location to hear Nora Achrati, Samar Adely Haddad, Yesenia Iglesias, and Busboys’ very own Andy Shallal perform selected monologues and to learn about the Gaza relief and broader work of the humanitarian organization Anera and of the Ashtar Theatre, and ways that we can support and learn from that work.

Please register here to receive a virtual program for the event and, if attending virtually, a link for online viewing. (if you can’t attend, there is an option to have the recorded program emailed to you on the registration form)

The doors will open at 6pm and the program will begin at 6:45pm. This event is free and open to all. Please note that the room capacity is limited and seating will be first come first serve. Questions? Feel free to email dcgazamonologues@gmail.com
