Saturday, January 20, 6:30 PM EDT - in person at the Museum of the Palestinian People, 1900 18th St NW, Washington, DC

Palestinian Agricultural History and Effects of the Occupation - Palestinian Food & Identity Series - Saturdays Jan 20, Jan 27 and Feb 3

Join the Museum of the Palestinian People and Palestinian Chef Jinan Deena for an in-person lecture series about how we can uplift and preserve Palestinian culture through Palestine's food. Across three Saturday evenings, starting January 20, Deena will discuss the historical and cultural layers of Palestine through its cuisine.

Chef Jinan Deena, a Palestinian American activist, shares her culinary journey, turning her passion into the Bayti pop-up and becoming a food educator. Featured in publications like The Washington City Paper, DCist, Eater DC, and District Fray, Deena's series promises an enriching experience, transcending a traditional lecture format. Each workshop will focus on a different aspect of Palestine's food and cultural preservation, so attendees can choose to attend one or all nights!

January 20: Palestinian agricultural history and effects of the occupation on food sovereignty and preservation / January 27: Palestinian chefs and activism through food in America / February 3: Cultural food appropriation and how it contributes to the ethnic cleansing and erasure of Palestinians, and how to practice "conscious consumerism.

This event is limited to 25 participants per night, so please reserve tickets in advance. Walkups will not be accepted.

Tickets🎟️ Neon Events (neoncrm.com) - $35 ticket price includes juice, tea, and light mezze appetizers, and workshop with Deena about Palestine's food.
