Wednesday, August 30, 6:00 PM EDT - in person at the Jerusalem Fund and Palestine Center, 2425 Virginia Ave NW Washington, DC
Join the Jerusalem Fund & Palestine Center for a screening of the film "Resistance Climbing," which follows a diverse crew of Palestinian youth as they discover the joy of rock climbing, and embrace it as a source of much-needed respite from the oppression of the Israeli occupation. In the film, American writer and climber Andrew Bisharat visits the West Bank to explore his own roots and the power of climbing to transform lives.
After the screening, there will be a discussion with one of the film's producers and one of its subjects, Tim Bruns, to tell us more about the making of this film and the project's significance.
About the Speaker: Tim Bruns is a producer of and subject in the new film “Resistance Climbing” about the rock climbing community in the West Bank. Tim spent many years living in Palestine and helping to establish the climbing community there. Tim is a co-founder of Wadi Climbing, the first climbing gym in Palestine, and an author of the Climbing Palestine guidebook. He currently resides in Colorado.
