Wednesday, August 16, 7:00 PM EDT - In person at Unitarian Universalist Church, 4444 Arlington Blvd, Arlington, VA
Our planet is suffering from human-induced climate change, overexploitation, habitat destruction, pollution, wars, colonialism, and other effects. These cause massive destabilization and suffering that impact all living forms including us humans. Sustainable human and natural communities are achievable and dependent on offering nature-based solutions. Dr. Qumsiyeh will discuss examples of challenges and solutions along the road to sustainability with a focus on Palestine.
Dr. Qumsiyeh is a professor at Bethlehem University and the founder and volunteer director of the Palestine Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability (PIBS) at Bethlehem University Palestine Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability (palestinenature.org). He has published widely on topics ranging from cultural heritage to human rights to biodiversity conservation to cancer.
