Challenging the backlash against Palestine solidarity and BDS

Thursday, June 1, 1:30 PM EDT

Palestine solidarity activism, especially the Boycott Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, is facing a major pro-Israel backlash around the world. Hil Aked's new book Friends of Israel: the Backlash Against Palestine Solidarity (Verso, 2023) tells the story of this repression in Britain, explaining the roles of the Israeli and British governments and the Zionist movement. By demystifying the actors defending Israeli apartheid while standing firm against antisemitic conspiracy theories, it carves out a space for an anti-racist discussion about the pro-Israel networks standing in the way of Palestine solidarity, situating them as part of the long history of British complicity in Israeli apartheid.

Hear from a panel of experts discussing the campaign against solidarity with Palestine, as well as effective strategies to pave the way for justice, equality, and freedom.
