On October 17th, the US Campaign for Palestinian Rights was made aware of a unilateral decision by the Hilton Houston Post Oak hotel to cancel its contract to host our upcoming conference “Seize the Moment: End Military Funding to Israel,” scheduled to take place on October 27th-29th.
The hotel's decision came in the wake of racist, anti-Arab, and Islamophobic backlash campaigns waged by right-wing, pro-Israel advocates and politicians to pressure the hotel into censorship. You may read our full press release here.
Supporters and enablers of genocide may think that this postponement will stifle us or limit our ability to advocate for Palestinian freedom. On the contrary, we will continue organizing everywhere.
Our eyes are on Gaza; our hearts are with the Palestinian people everywhere.
To truly seize the moment at this time means to turn out our communities en masse. And it means our people power must be brought to bear to end the genocide of U.S.-made Israeli bombs raining down on the Palestinian people of Gaza.
We need you, right now, to help us keep up the pressure. Here are key ways you can help:
Keep calling and emailing your elected officials. There are thousands of calls being made each day. Please add your voice, or call again! Use our Gaza toolkit to find how you can easily – in just moments – call and email our elected officials to demand a ceasefire. This kit is updated in real-time so the latest action steps, ideas for social media, and much more will be there.
Find other protests near you. Text and invite all your friends. If there isn’t one, plan one!
Thank you for all you’re already doing. Please keep up the pressure!
Until liberation,
IMAN ABID - Director of Advocacy & Organizing
