Details: Recent years have witnessed growing popular activism among Palestinians who carry Israeli citizenship, often around issues that unite them with Palestinians in the occupied territory or in the diaspora. In recent months, Palestinians who carry Israeli citizenship have played a crucial role in mobilizatios in Sheikh Jarrah; during the recent Israeli bombing campaign against Gaza, they also organized a major day of strike for dignity and unity for all Palestinians.
In this seminar, we will hear from two leaders in Nazareth, a lawyer and a grassroots leader. They will talk to us about the role of Palestinian activism in recent events as well as the legal structures of apartheid that impact Palestinians who hold Israeli citizenship.
Moderated by Amahl Bishara, associate professor of anthopology at Tufts University, and Nidal al-Azraq, executive director of 1for3.org.
