Details: Jun 22, 2021 12:00 PM in Eastern Time (US and Canada) - In the wake of the recent violence in Israel-Palestine, a renewed focus on the deep inequities facing Palestinian communities has widened the space for Palestinians to voice their perspectives in the media, in the streets and in the halls of power.
As the ceasefire in Gaza holds and the media coverage shifts from the grassroots to the new Israeli government, Palestinians continue to experience the daily indignities of life under occupation and the trauma of living under siege and through three wars in 16 years. Right now, Palestinian communities – from Sheikh Jarrah to Gaza City to the South Hebron Hills – are not only organizing to save their communities and rebuild their homes, they are also struggling to restore their individual and collective mental health.
Please join us for a conversation on June 22 at 12 pm ET / 7pm Jerusalem time with two Palestinian mental health professionals working on the frontlines in the West Bank and Gaza. They will share how recent events, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the latest war on Gaza, coupled with the ongoing impact of displacement, annexation and Israeli state-backed violence, affect their patients and communities on a daily basis.
This webinar will feature Iltezam Morrar, resident psychiatrist at the Bethlehem Psychiatric Hospital (and protagonist of our 2009 film, Budrus), and Dr. Jamil Atti, Country Director for the Center for Mind-Body Medicine in Gaza, moderated by Just Vision’s Deputy Director, Emma Alpert.
