Activists to Protest PUMA’s Support for Israeli Settlements at New Assembly Row Headquarters - Assembly Row, 341 Artisan Way, Somerville, MA

Members of BDS Boston will ask sportswear manufacturer PUMA to end its sponsorship of Israeli soccer teams on stolen Palestinian land

Sponsored by: bds boston

Details:

WHAT: A physically distanced picket at the new PUMA headquarters in Assembly Row, calling for a boycott of the company until it ends its complicity in Israeli violations of international law. Protesters will carry signs under the slogans “Give Puma the boot” and “#BoycottPUMA.”

WHO: The protest is organized by BDS Boston, which supports the Palestinian movement for Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) on Israel until it complies with international law and human rights. BDS Boston is a diverse group including intergenerational membership of Palestinians, other Arab-Americans, and Jewish, and African American community members.

WHERE: The PUMA Store at Assembly Row, 341 Artisan Way, Somerville, MA

WHEN: Sunday February 28, 2021 noon-2pm

WHY: Over 200 Palestinian football clubs have urged Puma to end its sponsorship of the Israeli Football Association (IFA) “due to its deep complicity in Israel’s violations of international law and Palestinian human rights”. The previous sponsor of the IFA was Adidas, but the partnership came to an end in July 2018 following a sustained boycott campaign. BDS Boston has been in contact with PUMA management, asking the company to apply its Social Standards to its international business partners, and PUMA leadership has repeatedly dodged the question.
