Mitchell Silver, Professor of Philosophy at UMass Boston, will speak on
“The Origins of Zionism: A History of Modern Jewish Nationalist Thought.”

Professor Silver will describe the historical situation and the variety
of ideological currents that gave rise to the Zionist movement in
19th century Europe. His talk will also cover the evolution of Zionist
thinking in the 20th century in response to global trends and
particular historical events. The lecture will be followed by a
generous allotment of time for questions, answers, and discussion.
