WEBINAR - "Ongoing Nakba in Gaza"

"Tracing Israel's Current Onslaught Back to 1948"

Join the Nakba Education Project (NEP) for a webinar to frame the current attack on Gaza. It will  help us to understand the context beneath this summer's violence and to consider ways forward. Sa'ed Atshan will be the presenter and and  Marilyn Kleinberg Neimark, a NEP Coordinating Committee Member, will be the moderator.

Professor Atshan will provide an overview of the experience of Palestinians living in Gaza, starting with the beginning of the Nakba ("Catastrophe" in Arabic) in 1947-1948, during which at least 200,000 Palestinians were expelled or fled to Gaza. He will then carry Gaza's history forward to the present, discussing critical events such as the invasions of 1956 and 1967, the emergence of Hamas-Fatah tension and the Israeli role in it, the Israeli withdrawal in 2005, Israel’s imposition of the siege and blockade, and the devastating attacks of the past six years.

Please RSVP to nakbaeducation@gmail.com if you would like to participate. You will need internet and phone access; further instructions will be provided closer to the day of the event for those who RSVP.  From national Jewish Voice for Peace.
