This Holy Week, we follow in the steps of Jesus who resisted the forces of violence and oppression even to the point of death on a cross, and triumphed over them in his resurrection. On Good Friday, we remember and bear witness to Jesus’ suffering at the hands of the Roman Empire. This prophetic memory calls us to be in solidarity with Palestinians and all peoples who are suffering under occupation and systemic violence. On Good Friday, we will mourn the lives lost in Gaza, and take action to ensure this violence ends.

We will engage the narrative and symbols of Jesus’ confrontation with—and victory over—violence to demand that our government take this opportunity to confess, repent, and repair. We call for an immediate and lasting ceasefire, unfettered aid to enter Gaza, an end to unrestricted funding for weapons of war to Israel, and a release of all hostages and prisoners.

This action is being planned by a group of clergy and faith leaders, many of whom are associated with Interfaith Ceasefire in Boston.

*In October of 2023 the Boston City Council voted to change the name of Faneuil Hall which was named for a slave owner and slave trader, after years of organizing by a coalition to change the name of the hall.
