3/29 5:00 PM (in person, Burlington VT) Land Day Friday Art Build & Drum Practice for Saturday's March

Friday, March 29, 5:00 PM EDT - in person at The Joinery, 339 Pine St., Burlington VT

Join for a Land Day art build and drum practice! We’re organizing a drum contingent for the Land Day march, and we want YOU to join us! All skill levels are welcome. Bring your own instruments or borrow one of ours!

We’ll meet for practice at 5:00 pm on Friday night and then march together at 1:00 pm on Saturday to commemorate Land Day.

Why are we marching? Land Day was created to mark the first political protest that was organized by Palestinian citizens of Israel in March 1976 after the Israeli government published its plot to expropriate 1500 more acres of land from the Palestinian villages in the Galilee area in order to establish new settlements. Marches, general strikes, and other acts of resistance took place and six Palestinians were killed by Israel. We commemorate Land Day with Palestinian citizens of Israel and Palestinians in the occupied territories to honor the struggle and sacrifice of those who died trying to resist colonial occupation and land theft. Let’s make noise and raise our voices together for Palestine! 🥁🗣️🇵🇸🥁🗣️🇵🇸
